Achievements Through Christ: Without Him Ye Can Do Nothing

John 15:5 (KJV)

I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing.

“When Jesus was saying that without me you can do nothing, He was saying that without being spiritual, you cannot succeed in this life and you can do nothing. It may seem like some people achieve a lot without Him, but it is not so.

“Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it” (Psalm 127:1).”

– Excerpt From: Dag Heward-Mills. “The Words of Jesus.”

I must involve God in everything I do. Everything I build, the Lord must build it otherwise I labour in vain. Without Jesus I can do nothing, but with Jesus all things are possible!

Take the Tower of Babel: the men were one and United, they wanted to build something for themselves, something that will make them into a great nation, give them an everlasting name, something that will cause them not to be scattered abroad (Genesis 11:4). But they did not even consider God. So He came down and confused them by giving them different languages, and they did scatter abroad.

They laboured in vain because God was not in their plans. This happens today.

But then look at Abraham in the very next chapter: God said He will make Abraham into a great nation, bless him and make his name great (Genesis 12:2)! Abraham obeyed God, and today he has become a great nation that is Israel, his name is great, everyone knows Abraham! All because he obeyed God and walked with Him. He allowed God to build his house, and consequently did not labour in vain. He is blessed far and beyond his imagination. He even has a part of heaven named after him, Abraham’s Bosom (Luke 16:22).

“Isn’t it amazing that all the goals of the men of Babel were given freely to Abraham? Abraham accomplished all the goals of the men of Babel. His achievements were only because he trusted God. Today, Abraham’s name is great. Everyone in the world has heard of Abraham, including those in the most remote corners of Ghana.”

– Excerpt From: Dag Heward-Mills. “The Words of Jesus.”

I have learnt that I need to give God my whole life; my ministry, my family, my friendships, my education, my goals.. Because without him I labour in vain. It may all seem to be working without Him, but it’s all fleeting; it won’t last and therefore be in vain. It will end in confusion, scattering and decline.

I must be spiritual. I must always be connected to Christ because without him I can do nothing. May God help us in Jesus’ name.

“Stay connected to God! Press hard to stay close and to be intimate with God.”

– Excerpt From: Dag Heward-Mills. “The Words of Jesus.”

Let’s Pray: Heavenly Father, thank you so much for this time. I thank you for the truth of your word. Forgive us for shutting you out of our personal lives and the decisions we make. Please help us to always seek you first. Help us to commit every area of our lives into your hands. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

  1. I am encouraged that you share the Word so that many may know the Lord. Keep it up! God rewards such kind of labour. You are blessed my love and keep blessing others with the light that has been shown to you. You ARE truly the salt of the earth and the light of the world. I love you
