Eliminate Distractions: By Fixing Your Eyes On Jesus!

06/04/16Distractions

Hebrews 12:2 (NIV) Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Jesus is the writer of our faith. All things are possible THROUGH CHRIST who is our strength. The strengthener of our faith!

He is the one who perfects it. He is the way the truth and the life.

1 Corinthians 13:9-10 (KJV) [9] For we know in part, and we prophesy in part. [10] But when that which is PERFECT is come, then that which is in part shall be done away.

He endured hardship because he was aware of the joy that was set before him. He knew of the glory which was to be revealed in him.

Romans 8:18 (KJV) [18] For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Consider it pure joy as you suffer for Christ.

James 1:2-3 (NIV) [2] Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds, [3] because you know that the testing of your faith develops perseverance.

His endurance caused him to sit at the right hand of God. His perfect life gave him the reward of having his name above all names !

Let us follow Christ therefore. He was aware of the joy that was set before him. He had his mind set on heavenly things (this joy) not on earthly things.

Colossians 3:1-2 (KJV) [1] If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. [2] Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

He was able to overcome the pleasures of life and was able to overcome the fleshy desires. He wasn’t carnal. (Romans 8:5-6) Because just like Daniel, he decided not to defile himself with the things of this world. (Daniel 1:8) He did not conform to this world. He didn’t not allow the things of this world distract him from the heavenly things.

Romans 12:2 (KJV) [2] And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what is that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.

He was able to lay up his treasures in heaven
I consider all things of this world a distraction. Everything in this life is a distraction. That is why Paul is able to say set your minds on things above, where Christ is seated at the right hand of God. That is why Paul said “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus…” Because he knew that everything that is not Jesus is a distraction. Anything that is not from God is a distraction. Everything that God is not a part of is meaningless. Every distraction that rises up is meaningless. It does not add anything to our faith, Christ is perfecter of our faith!

Ecclesiastes 1:2 (NIV) [2] “Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher.”Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”

Let us not be deceived any longer. Anything that raises itself above and against the knowledge of Christ must be cast down! Everything that rises up against knowing Jesus, having a relationship with him, becoming closer with Christ must be eliminated, they are distractions.

2 Corinthians 10:5 (KJV) [5] Casting down imaginations, and every high thing that exalteth itself against the knowledge of God, and bringing into captivity every thought to the obedience of Christ;

Lord please help us to overcome these distractions. May we be able to fix our eyes on Christ Jesus. Amen.

  1. I am glad that God gave us everything that pertains to life and godliness thru the knowledge of Christ so that we will not stumble. (2 Peter 1:3-10)
Thanks for the reminder that our eyes should always be fixated on Him who has called us to His kingdom and glory (1 Thes. 2:12-14).
You are truly blessed my dear!
